The Hereford Police Department Patrol Division is comprised of twenty-two full time Police Officers. Each of the four shifts is led by a Sergeant and a Corporal. The division is led by the Patrol Lieutenant. Our Patrol Division is tasked with general patrol and everyday police functions within in the City of Hereford. The Patrol Officers respond to a large variety of calls on a daily basis, which are called in by our citizens, and will generate all reports and conduct the preliminary investigations into all criminal offenses reported within the City of Hereford. Other responsibilities the Patrol Officers have include, but are not limited to are: traffic enforcement, traffic accident investigations, and warrant service. The Patrol Division works in 12-hour shifts, and police services are offered 24-hours a day, 7 days a week.
The Patrol Division also makes up the vast majority of our School Resource Officers (SRO’s), by serving as a Resource Officer on one of their normal days off. Our SRO’s are tasked with detecting and deterring crime and violence within our schools by working closely with campus administration. The SRO’s will also generate reports and conduct the preliminary investigations into all criminal offenses occurring on school property.
